Monday through Friday, Ada's OK being around just me until about 2 pm. That's when she starts in with "da-da" and "da da . . . DA!" She's learned the routine that after her second nap and a quick nursing session, it's only an hour or so until Stephen will burst through the door.
This girl loves when daddy gets home from work. She gets a second wind. Any crankiness she had disappears. It's magic, really. And yesterday, she couldn't tear herself away from the family room window, studying him as he mowed the side yard. Transfixed. Giggling at the faces he made while he pushed the mower up and down the incline that dips into the neighbors' lawn.
We miss summer. We miss having him home all the time. But fall is fun. And we surely savor that magic hour when our little family is reunited again each day.
